After Top Biden Official Defies Congress – Leading Republican Calls for Immediate Arrest

Joe Biden’s campaign was hit with a deadly blow after Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report. Hur refused to recommend Biden be prosecuted but did more damage by saying he was a confused old man with a poor memory.

The White House tried to slander the DOJ official while the media played interference.

Congress wanted the audio recordings of these interviews. The DOJ refused, accusing House Republicans of doing the very thing Democrats do every day: using criminal cases to push their partisan agenda. House Republicans hit AG Garland with a heavy charge. And now, one Republican is taking it further.

From Fox News:
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is planning to force a vote on directing the House Sergeant-at-Arms to arrest Attorney General Merrick Garland sometime this week.

Luna is sending a letter around to fellow House Republicans on Monday arguing that the Department of Justice (DOJ) undermined Congress by refusing to act on the contempt resolution passed by the GOP majority earlier this month.

“The only option to ensure compliance with our subpoena is to use our constitutional authority of inherent contempt,” Luna said. “In the next few days, I will call up my resolution holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in inherent contempt of Congress, and I look forward to each of you voting in favor of it.”

Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina is pushing House Republicans to hold Merrick Garland in “inherent contempt.” This comes after the Department of Justice refused to respond to the House’s criminal referral against Garland. It was unlikely that the agency under Garland would prosecute him.

But inherent contempt could give Republicans in the House the power to hold Garland accountable. If passed, Garland would be forced to stand trial before the House. If he was found guilty, he could be detained by the House Sergeant-at-Arms.

This sounds like an extreme move by House Republicans, but it seems that Garland forced their hand. His DOJ has been playing fast and loose with the law for years. They targeted parents, raided a former president’s home, and abused the law to protect Hunter Biden. How many Americans will lose faith in the justice system if Garland is not held accountable for his actions?

It’s troubling to see the DOJ seemingly ignoring the rules they should uphold. If Merrick Garland isn’t held accountable, what message does that send about our justice system? Republicans need to ensure that the law is applied equally to everyone, not just those who fit a particular political agenda. What do you think? Should Congress take such drastic measures, or is there another way to address this issue?

Key Takeaways:

  • Republican Anna Paulina is pressing House Republicans to hold AG Merrick Garland in “inherent contempt.”
  • Garland refused to hand over recordings of Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Hur.
  • The DOJ did not respond to a criminal referral against Garland.
