After Massive Crisis Grips American Cities – Blue State Governor Makes Jaw-Dropping Move

In the wake of Joe Biden’s border crisis, more and more states are waking up to a harsh reality. Migrants are pouring into the country, forcing Americans to compete for housing. Add to that Biden’s crippling inflation, housing costs are getting out of control.

The solution for some has been to steal homes from homeowners. People have been breaking into empty houses and living in them.

Antiquated state laws have allowed these squatters to stay, depriving homeowners of their own houses. Some states are moving quickly to end this growing problem. One state passed a law to protect American citizens. But its far-left governor just shut it down.

From The Post Millennial:
Arizona’s Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed bipartisan legislation that would have strengthened property owner’s rights to evict squatters.

SB 1129, vetoed on Tuesday, would have permitted homeowners to request police to immediately remove a squatter from their property if the squatter unlawfully claimed a right to live there.

Hobbs said Tuesday in a letter to the president of the State Senate, “Today I vetoed Senate Bill 1129. This bill fails to leverage existing legal mechanisms, respect the due process rights of lawful tenants, and minimize unintended consequences such as for victims of domestic violence.”

The Democrat governor of Arizona vetoed a bipartisan law that would have helped homeowners remove squatters. The bill gave residents the power to request police to immediately remove a squatter who could not prove they were lawfully permitted to live there.

But the far-left activist governor shut down the bill. Hobbs claimed it neglected “existing” means for removing squatters. She also stated that the bill does not “respect the due process rights of lawful tenants.” Critics struck back explaining the bill does not hurt lawful tenants and landlords, nor does it harm victims of domestic violence—another wild claim by the governor.

Hobbs is apparently ignoring the growing squatter problem in her state. Existing mechanisms, as she says, are not adequate for removing squatters. Otherwise, there would not have been a crisis in the first place. In many states, squatters have more rights than landowners and police are unable to remove them.

This is the product of old laws meant to protect renters from being unfairly evicted. But it seems radical leftists are exploiting these laws to aid the migrant crisis and push some form of social justice.

Key Takeaways:

  • Hobbs of Arizona vetoed a bipartisan bill aimed at ending squatting.
  • The governor claimed there were already “existing legal mechanism” to remove squatters.
  • A squatter’s crisis has erupted in recent years, as people illegally occupy houses.
