The reality of Biden’s executive order on immigration is shocking, as it hasn’t done anything to solve the problem. Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott relayed this news, slamming the president for another huge failure.

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Sunday to Fox News there has been no discernable change at the border since President Joe Biden’s June 4, 2024 executive order targeting immigration, before claiming it’s “accelerating” migrant crossings instead.The governor was questioned by Fox News on whether he has seen any change at the border.
“None whatsoever,” Abbott said. “Listen, people need to understand that what Biden has done, he’s not doing anything to actually secure the border. In fact, it’s the opposite because he’s actually authorizing more people to cross the border illegally… there’s nothing that Biden is doing that actually is preventing anybody else from crossing the border.”
Abbott explained how Biden’s order only deals with the number of illegal immigrants seeking asylum. Biden’s order pauses new asylum requests after migrant crossings hit a seven-day daily average of 2,500 and resume after hitting a seven-day daily average of 1,500.
All the while, illegal immigrants are streaming across the border at near-record levels, and the asylum claims continue even under Biden’s executive order. The order is nothing more than political smoke and mirrors that prompted positive headlines for Biden from his allies in the leftist mainstream media.
Illegals can continue to swarm into the country without any real consequences from law enforcement who should be allowed to focus on protecting the border from unprecedented levels of immigration. Abbott said Biden is gaslighting people into believing he is securing the border.
“There’s no type of enforcement mechanism in place, and so as long as the Biden administration refuses to provide any type of enforcement, any type of blockage of people crossing illegally, all this new Biden policy is going to do is to attract and invite even more people to cross the border illegally,” Abbott said. “And you’ve seen on videos ever since the Biden order went into place: there’s no slowing down of people crossing the border; in fact, it’s just accelerating.”
Biden’s open border crisis has continued because of the president’s policies. The most recent data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection showed that the Border Patrol recorded 137,480 encounters in March and 128,900 in April.
