President Biden has suffered several setbacks in recent days. The Democrat tried to paper over a damning special counsel’s report—only to expose to the world his ailing memory. Polling shows that Americans think he’s too old to be president.
And other reports show his support among major voting bases eroding quickly.
So, it should come as no surprise that Biden is trying to sling mud at his opponents. During a fundraising gala, he tore into Republicans. He tried to slander them as “racist.” But while doing so, made a shocking admission about his own career.
From The Post Millennial:
“I’ve been a senator since ’72,” Biden told the audience, per the New York Post. “I’ve served with real racists. I’ve served with Strom Thurmond.”“I’ve served with all these guys that have terrible records on race,” he continued, “but guess what? These guys [sitting Republicans] are worse. These guys do not believe in basic democratic principles.”
Joe Biden tried to accuse Republicans of being “worse” than the “real racists” he’s worked with throughout his long political career. Biden appeared to praise the late Sen. Strom Thurmond, who was known for his pro-segregationist views.
It seems Biden preferred working with this racist senator over current Republicans because they “do not believe in basic democratic principles.” Biden has been beating the “threat to democracy” drum for years—showing little evidence to prove it.
In turn, Democrats appear to be the larger threat to democracy, given they are trying to prevent Trump from even appearing on ballots.
Yet Biden seemed to overlook the fact that he was admitting to working with “real racists” in his mad dash to slander Republicans. Will voters overlook the fact that Biden was seemingly proud to work with Thurmond because he’s attacking conservatives?
Biden has his own tainted history over race. He recently was in hot water for calling rapper LL Cool J, “boy.” He infamous claimed black voters “ain’t black” for supporting Trump. Signs suggest he is rapidly losing support for black voters. For him to praise a notorious senator like Thurmond will not help his situation.
Leaders like Speaker Mike Johnson were quick to call out Biden’s remarks.
Outrageous. The least popular President to seek re-election is now so desperate and so underwater in the polls he’s playing the race card from the bottom of the deck. https://t.co/srrZBtW2uV

Johnson said Biden is “so desperate” that he is trying to play the race card “from the bottom of the deck.” Others were equally critical of Biden’s comments. It will be interesting to see how the White House tries to spin this to protect him.
Key Takeaways:
- While attacking Republicans, Biden admitted to working with “real racists.”
- Biden appeared to praise Sen. Strom Thurmond, who opposed the Civil Rights movement.
- The Democrat did this while trying to claim Republicans “do not believe” in democracy.
