Blue State Gov Unloads Surprise 2024 Prediction – It’s Officially Time for Democrats to Panic

If Trump continues to gain momentum, he will quickly earn the Republican presidential primary. Many polls have already gauged his chances against President Joe Biden. And things are not looking good for the incumbent Democrat.

Some polls have Trump leading in must-win swing states. In other battleground states, it looks as if Trump has a commanding lead.

The governor of a state that played an important role in recent elections made a 2024 prediction. It was not what Democrats wanted to hear. And it could have the Biden campaign scrambling.

From Daily Wire:
Governor Gretchen Whitmer said during an interview over the weekend that despite what polling may show right now, this fall’s upcoming presidential election will be “close” in the state…

“It’s always going to be close in this state…”

Whitmer said that her state was a purple state and that it was “absolutely” up for grabs in 2024.

In what might have been considered a “rally the troops” statement, Gov. Whitmer of Michigan predicted that the presidential race will be “close” in her state. She went on to say that Democrats “cannot make any assumptions” about how Michigan will go in 2024.

Trump scored a shocking upset when, in 2016, he won the state. Biden retook the state, by a close margin, in the deeply contested 2020 Election. Michigan is typically considered a swing state, with the blue-collar voters leaning to the left.

Whitmer might have done more to upset Democrats, however, when she said her state was “purple.” The governor is one of the more unpopular ones in the country—getting tremendous heat over her COVID response in 2020.

Despite this, she helped Democrats gain majorities in the state’s House and Senate. But not even she feels safe about 2024. President Biden has terrible approval numbers nationwide. And his aggressive “green” agenda might not be going over well for Michigan residents who, like many Americans, are suffering from years’ long inflation.

If the race will be “close” in Michigan, the question remains how do candidate expect to close the gap to secure their victories? Trump scored big in 2016 in Michigan, but will he spend much time and energy in the state this year?

Key Takeaways:

  • Gov. Whitmer of Michigan claimed the presidential race will be “close” in her state.
  • Donald Trump won the state in 2016 but lost the state to Biden in 2020.
  • Michigan is considered a swing state but has been leaning left in recent years.
