California is typically seen as a bastion of leftist ideals. They tend to embrace the most radical liberal views in the country, and are often the butt of many right-wing jokes.

But the Democrat-dominated state saw some shifting in the midterm 2022 elections, and conservatives are starting to gain a surprising foothold in one area: education.

In fact, one school board just struck a blow for conservative values — and it happened at their very first meeting.

Equality, racism, and equity are all words Democrats tend to use (or overuse), and they’ve all become staples in classrooms.

However, many parents claim that this has little to do with education, and more to do with indoctrination. In fact, some accuse the education system of social engineering, a dangerous precedent.

And while many California schools still teach controversial topics like Critical Race Theory (CRT), the Temecula Valley Unified School District is saying NO.

A southern California school district voted to ban Critical Race Theory (CRT) in the new school board’s first meeting.

California’s Temecula Valley Unified School District voted 3-2 to ban CRT just after a conservative majority had been sworn in.

The board is now right-leaning after a shift in power, which likely led to this decision.

CRT has been one of the most-questioned theories of the 21st century. Many say teaching that one race is “inherently racist” and denigrating that race (white) only further divides the country.

As part of the resolution, the school board stated:

“The TVUSD desires to uplift and unite students by not imposing the responsibility of historical transgressions in the past and instead will engage students of all cultures in age-appropriate critical thinking that helps students navigate the past, present, and future.

The board further condemned racism and said CRT is “an ideology based on false assumptions about the United State of America and its population.”

This is something right-wing citizens have been saying from the start: CRT is just an attempt to lie to our youth about the “reality” of race-relations in the nation, and instill more racism, not equality.

The resolution honed in on CRT’s belief that “only white people can be racist,” and shouted it down.

The ruling further bans other aspects of the theory, like the idea that “racism is ordinary and the usual way society operates,” and that minorities are better qualified to talk about the subject.

Lastly, the resolution says no individual “should be discriminated against or receive favorable treatment on the basis of race or sex.”

Most people will wonder at this: after all, the Civil Rights movement supposedly solidified all this. It said we should treat people based on their merits, not on their race or ethnicity.

Somehow, that basic concept of equality is “racist” now, which is confusing and frustrating to those who aren’t prepared to accept they’re racist — just because the ruling regime tells them they are.

But at least some schools in California have come to their senses.
