Last Sunday, yet another assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life was narrowly thwarted by the Secret Service. This time, a gunman staked out Trump’s golf course in Palm Beach, Florida, with an AK-47 for 12 hours, hoping to kill the former president.
This came just 64 days after Trump was shot in the ear by another wannabe assassin in Butler, Pennsylvania. These two incidents were the first assassination attempts on a current or former president in over 40 years.
In the wake of this, many were hoping that Democrats might tone down some of their anti-Trump rhetoric. Sadly, this isn’t what happened at all. Instead, the hatred that Democrats have for Trump has seemingly only increased.
In fact, some Democrats have even gone so far as to admit that they wish his assassination attempts had succeeded. This was made clear on Wednesday, when one man who claimed to be a Vietnam Veteran called into C-SPAN to speak to host John McArdle.

“I just want to say I’m a very patriotic American. I did 20 years in the military, two tours in Vietnam, wounded in 1966, went back in 1968 and I look at myself and think about we as military men, we killed, captured, destroyed enemy by all means available,” the caller, who McArdle identified as Willie, said. “And I see we let this man, Trump, destroy America. And I look at it and say, well, these two people had to step up and take that shot. I’m 83, nothing to lose.”“I’m sorry, Willie, you’re not advocating violence, are you?” McArdle asked, with Willie responding, “Not violence. I’m talking about defending my country.”

This Has Gone Way Too Far
There is some language that is not covered by the First Amendment. Urging would-be assassins to “take that shot” and attempt to kill a former president would be a prime example of that.
The Secret Service should be doing everything they can to identify this caller and bring him in for questioning. Potentially arresting him should not be off the table, as what he had to say is simply sick.
Anyone who has ties to liberals on social media likely isn’t surprised by his remarks. Indeed, many of us have seen hateful leftists respond to the assassination attempts on Trump in the most depraved ways possible.
If there had been even one assassination attempt on Joe Biden, we would be a nation in mourning. The mainstream media would never let us forget it, and anyone who dared to even suggest that Biden should be killed would be publicly shamed and face serious consequences.
Since Trump was the target of these assassination attempts, however, the leftwing media machine wants us all to forget and move on as quickly as possible. That’s why it’s likely that this vile C-SPAN caller won’t get in any kind of trouble for his remarks.
It says it all about where we are as a nation that so many Democrats have no problem openly wishing for the death of a former Republican president. In the end, America really is more divided than ever. It’s terrifying to think about what this all means for the future of our country.
