California’s 2024 Senate Gets Set on Fire – Republican Challenger Just Got Some Big News

With the passing of Dianne Feinstein, California has an open Senate seat. That seat will be filled by a winner from the 2024 Election. Several notable Democrats are fighting for the spot, including infamous Rep. Adam Schiff.

California has an odd “jungle” primary in which all candidates fight together to end up on the general ballot.

Some might have assumed two Democrats will end up fighting it out in November. But according to recent polls, a long-shot candidate has just left Democrats reeling.

From Breitbart:
Steve Garvey, the former Dodgers baseball star who is running for the U.S. Senate from California as a Republican, has reportedly moved into second place in several polls, behind Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and ahead of Schiff’s major Democratic rivals…

“A celebrity Republican is gaining traction in the polls, and he could advance to second place and keep us from qualifying for the general election,” warned a Thursday pitch from Orange County Democratic Rep. Katie Porter’s Senate campaign.

Steve Garvey is a 10-time MLB All-Star who played for the Dodgers and Padres for 19 years. He is an iconic figure in professional sports and the state of California. Last October, he announced his campaign for Senate.

The media wrote him off as a longshot, but a recent poll has him behind Rep. Adam Schiff. That means Garvey could beat out other Democrats to end up on the ballot in November.

This would be an upset win for the Democrats, who consider California their biggest stronghold. But even in the super “woke” state, the cracks are starting to show. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have fled crime-infested CA cities. Many more are demanding answers from their leaders over rampant crime, drug abuse, and homelessness.

Enough California voters may be disgruntled at their status quo and flock to Garvey. The Republican could mount a successful campaign to topple even Schiff, who is considered favored to win.

Schiff has been taking advantage of his anti-Trump history to pull in big donations. He has used his role in the first Trump impeachment to bring in money and support. But outside the Trump-hating pack, Garvey might have ample opportunity to steal votes away from “Pencil Neck” Schiff.

Key Takeaways:

  • Republican Steve Garvey is in second place for California’s open Senate seat.
  • He could end up on the general election ballots, thanks to the state’s “jungle” primary.
  • Garvey is an MLB All-Star who played for both the Dodgers and the Padres.
