Official Cause of Maui Disaster Revealed – And It Just Ruined Democrats’ Day

What’s Happening:

Americans were shocked to learn about the devastation caused by a wildfire in Maui. The historic town of Lahaina was destroyed. Over one hundred Americans were killed, with many more still missing. The Biden administration got a serious black eye over its poor response, with FEMA caught in yet another scandal.

Yet the only thing Democrats wanted to talk about was “climate change.”

Every liberal, from the state governor to those in the White House, has used this tragedy to push their climate agenda. They have crowed on and on that this fire would have never happened, if we’ve pushed more and more extreme environmental rules. But now, the state of Hawaii has just launched a damning lawsuit–and it is shattering the left’s narrative.

From Fox News:

Hawaiian officials attributed the cause of catastrophic wildfires to alleged failures from the state’s main power utility company and downed power lines this week after Democrats blamed the disaster on global warming.

In a lawsuit filed Thursday, the government of Maui County, Hawaii, alleged Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) and its subsidiaries failed to properly power down live electrical equipment amid a red flag windstorm earlier this month. Due to this failure, downed power lines operated by the utility company sparked a series of deadly fires on the island, the lawsuit claimed.

Huh. So, after Democrats spent weeks blaming “climate change” on the Maui wildfire, the state (which is run by Democrats) is admitting that they believe the fire was caused by Hawaiian Electric Company.

In a lawsuit brought against the company, the state is saying the power company failed to “power down” electrical equipment after a windstorm downed power lines. It is a common occurrence for power lines to fall, during a storm. Energy companies are supposed to identify where lines are down and turn off electricity, to prevent fires, explosions, and other calamities.

But the state is saying that HECO “acted negligently” because it did not power down, even though it was known that the National Weather Service warned about this storm. The suit states that the downed power lines “ignited dry fuel such as grass and brush, causing the fires.”

Now, answer me this: does grass and brush catch fire when downed power lines set off sparks? Large amounts of electricity surge through power lines, yes? Enough power to set grass on fire, no matter the weather?

Wouldn’t this kind of scenario lead to a fire, climate change or not? So, is it reasonable to accuse “climate change” of this fire, when this would have happened no matter what?

Based on this lawsuit, the state believes the fires could have been avoided, had HECO responded properly. If they quickly moved to power down their equipment where lines were downed, this brush would not have been ignited.

Yet we’ve been told for weeks that aggressive climate policy could have prevented this disaster. I guess not…

Key Takeaways:

  • Hawaii has sued an electric company, blaming it for the Maui wildfire.
  • The lawsuit claims the HECO failed to power down equipment after lines were downed in a windstorm.
  • This contradicts the left’s weeks-long claim that “climate change” led to this disaster.
