Over the past few years, crime has spiked in liberal cities all over the country thanks to their woke policies. This has been especially true in Oakland, California, which is one of the most radically liberal cities in all of America.
Crime has now gotten so bad in Oakland that a police union representing officers in the city is fighting back. This police union is demanding that the radically liberal Mayor Sheng Thao resign “immediately” over the lack of resources she’s given police to respond to calls of criminal activity.
More liberal cities across the country should take notice of this. It’s time for radically liberal leaders to be ousted and replaced with level-headed politicians who will actually take crime seriously.

Oakland Police Officer’s Association president Huy Nguyen said at a news conference on Tuesday the union is asking Thao to resign as mayor “immediately for a lot of the failures in this city, going from crime, the budget crisis, the distraction of the FBI raid that prevents our ability to function as a city,” according to KTVU.“Every day, our citizens feel the tragedies. That they cannot exit their own home or walk to the streets of Oakland, calling 911 and not getting the services they need,” Nguyen continued.
Nguyen said officers are unable to respond to every emergency call or that they have slower response times because the police department is understaffed.
“We don’t have the resources,” he said.
The radical left has shown as of late that they’d rather cater to criminals than protect American citizens. Democrats’ disinterest in fighting crime is just one of many ways that they show every day that they simply don’t care about helping law-abiding Americans at all.
Woke Mayor Refuses To Resign
Thao responded to the police union’s calls by desperately claiming that crime is declining in Oakland.
“It’s unfortunate that the POA is obviously playing politics,” Thao said. “Right now, during this very sensitive time, we need to come together. We see that what we are working on in terms of the comprehensive approach for public safety is working.”
Despite Thao’s claims, however, crime appears to still be rampant in Oakland. On Sunday, five people were injured in a shooting at a sideshow near Fruitvale Ave. and MacArthur Blvd. The next day, another shooting in West Oakland resulted in two teenagers and one adult being rushed to the hospital.
That’s why the police union feels that Thao needs to resign immediately before crime in Oakland gets even worse.

It’s been shown time and time again that when radical liberals who are soft on crime are put in charge of a city, crime will inevitably spike there. Enough is enough. Thao should indeed resign immediately. Finally, more police unions in woke, crime-ridden American cities should start making similar calls demanding that their radically liberal mayors resign.
