Ted Cruz Turns The Tables On SCOTUS Pick – He Claims The Senate Could Confirm Before The Election

What’s Happening:

The news of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing has created a firestorm in Washington.

Trump has promised to fill the vacancy on the court, despite extreme protests from the left.

Some worry that he might not be able to get it done before the election, if the process takes too long.

Democrats have even threatened to impeach him again, just to slow down the process.

(Impeach Trump over doing his job? Where have we heard that before?)

But Senator Ted Cruz is throwing water on the Democrats’ wild claims, with this assertion:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Sunday that he believes Senate Republicans will be able to secure enough votes to confirm President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg…

“I think it is particularly important that the Senate take it up and confirm this nomination before the election,” Cruz said.

Cruz revealed that he believes Trump will have plenty of votes in the Senate to confirm a new Supreme Court justice, before the election.

President Trump has already promised to nominate a replacement, saying it will “probably” be a woman.

While a few “moderate” Republican senators have protested, some speculate that a few red-state Democrats might vote in favor of a replacement (if they want to keep their jobs in November).

The moment RBG passed, Democrats were quick to make threats. They immediately demanded that Trump wait until after the election to fill the seat.

What did Trump do when he heard that she died? Oh, that’s right, he had nothing but respect and praise for the woman—and released a statement celebrating her accomplishments.

Only after Democrats made threats—with some threatening “war” or worse—did Trump make it clear that he would nominate a replacement soon.

Those worried about timing, keep in mind Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was nominated and confirmed around the same time in 2018.

Even with a dragged-out process, thanks to wild accusations and media meddling, Kavanaugh was sworn in before the Mid-terms.

There seems to be little reason to doubt that Trump and Senate Republicans can seal the deal before November 3.

But even if they wait, all that means is Trump will get to nominate it a few months later… once he starts his second term.

Key Takeaways:

  • President Trump promised to fill RBG’s seat before the election.
  • Ted Cruz says he believes there is enough support in the Senate to confirm a new Supreme Court justice.
  • Democrats were quick to demand and even threaten the president to wait.
