“I want to talk about the fact that our immigration system is backlogged, bureaucratic and doesn’t actually help anybody, including American employers who want folks who want to follow the law,” Hallie Shoffner said on the “Free Arkansas Podcast” during an hour-long discussion about a wide spectrum of political issues.

Shoffner, a farmer running against Sen. Tom Cotton in Arkansas, wasn’t finished. She went on to describe a conversation with a fellow farmer about employing illegal immigrants: “And honestly, we’d trade five Americans just for one of them because of how hard they work.”

Five Americans. For one illegal alien. That’s the exchange rate this woman put on the record – casually, on a podcast, without a shred of hesitation. Apparently, American workers aren’t just undervalued by Democrats. They’re on clearance.

Insulting the people she wants to represent

Here’s what makes this so infuriating. Shoffner isn’t some Ivy League operative parachuting into flyover country. She’s a farmer.
