“Dreaming and scheming” should be the theme for the 2024 Democratic Party national convention. Liberal Democrats are already working on how they can pull off a conniving scheme that will benefit their presidential candidate.
Party power players have indicated they are willing to try almost anything to give Joe Biden any advantage possible to win in November. His struggling campaign needs all the help it can get from his leftist cronies as former President Donald Trump continues to build momentum into the fall.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is scrambling to keep Biden on track ahead of the August party convention. Biden is in campaign trouble in one of the biggest states he must win to keep the White House.
From Fox News:
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is preparing to nominate President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominees via virtual proceedings before Ohio’s Aug. 7 deadline, and before its in-person convention this summer in Chicago.Ohio requires its parties to certify presidential candidates at least 90 days before Election Day. The DNC won’t certify Biden until its convention, which is scheduled for Aug. 19 – 75 days before the election.
Biden is in hostile territory in Ohio which is a state political insiders believe he must win to get reelected. Republicans hold super majorities in the state House and Senate and hold the executive branch in Republican Gov. Mike DeWine.
Ohio GOP leaders met this week in a special session called by the governor to address Biden’s ability to appear on the general election ballot. Republicans are opposed to passing legislation that would postpone the deadline for Biden to be certified in Ohio. They don’t plan on passing such a measure without voting on unrelated campaign finance legislation that Democrats oppose.
The DNC also faces the loss of fanfare and momentum building because a virtual nomination for Biden in Ohio could deflate such efforts. Democrats called out Ohio Republicans for clogging up the system for Biden to get on the ballot.
DNC leaders said state Republicans were “playing politics with our democracy.” They vowed that Biden will be on the ballot in Ohio and all 50 states.
What Democrat leaders won’t scream about is the fact that they must change their own established rules to keep Biden on the Ohio ballot. To conduct a virtual roll, the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee must vote June 4 on a resolution to propose changes to the call that would allow for virtual party proceedings. The full DNC membership would have to ratify the resolution.
It is astonishing how often the Democrats must seek a change in the rules to keep their candidates in the running for office. No matte what happens in November, Biden will always be seen as the feeble candidate who had to be propped up by the DNC beyond what past candidates needed.
Key Takeaways:
- Democratic Party leaders posed rules changes to keep Biden on the Ohio ballot.
- Biden will miss the ballot deadline unless Democrats hold a virtual roll call for him.
- The Democratic National Committee failed to plan properly ahead of the fall convention.
