What’s Happening:

While Donald Trump is the current frontrunner of the GOP presidential primaries, he’s hardly safe.

It seems clear he has been worried about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who recently entered the race. DeSantis is a rising star in the GOP, who managed to flip Florida to a heavy red state, and he might be the only person who can build enough support to defeat Trump and win the Republican nomination.

Some have suggested that, instead of fighting, these two candidates should join forces. After all, a Trump-DeSantis ticket might be too powerful for Biden to overcome.

This idea was presented to Ron DeSantis as a possibility and he quickly gave his response — and Trump quickly followed up with his reaction.

‘I don’t think so. I’m not a No. 2 guy,’ DeSantis said on the ‘Wisconsin Right Now’ radio show, saying he would rather stay on as governor because the vice presidency ‘doesn’t really have any authority.’ […]

‘Ron DeSantis isn’t anybody’s guy. He’s not ‘the guy.’ He’s just ‘a guy.’ Ron is just there, sullen and sad, because his numbers are as tiny as him,” Steven Cheung said.

Yikes. It doesn’t look like these two will kiss and make up any time soon. DeSantis rejected the notion of being Trump’s vice president, saying he’s “not a No. 2 guy.” It seems he is uninterested in being the VP, saying he doesn’t have “any authority.”

One of Trump’s spokespersons, channeling the man’s own bitter anger, said DeSantis “isn’t anybody’s guy.” He went on to claim that DeSantis’s “numbers are as tiny as him.”

For some reason, Trump is going harder on DeSantis than he is on Biden–the actual man he has to defeat. It seems Trump is very afraid of DeSantis and won’t even consider him as a running mate, even if that means losing votes in the general election.

Joe Biden has wrecked the economy, expanded the size of the federal government, funded an overseas war, and opened the border. Meanwhile, DeSantis saved Florida from the devastation of COVID, has seen countless Americans flee blue states to move there, built up the police force, protected its border, and flipped the state from “swing” to “red.”

But who is Trump calling a “tiny” man?

Seems like Trump has more to fear from DeSantis, polling or not. But if these two candidates are intent on fighting each other bitterly, they might end up both losing the White House.
