DeSantis Scores a Surprise Victory – Even Trump Can’t Believe This Record Number

What’s Happening:

All the news about Donald Trump’s ongoing criminal cases seems to have helped his campaign. According to some polls, Trump is enjoying a strong lead over his GOP primary rivals. It is likely that many rallied behind Trump after the indictments, believing he is the victim of a witch hunt.

But does that mean he’s a shoo-in for the nomination?

Many believe that Trump’s time has come and gone. And that the nation needs a new conservative leadership to right the ship. Gov. Ron DeSantis has wowed Americans with his bold leadership in Florida. And he has been battling for weeks during the primaries, to reach conservative voters. Now, he’s set a record that even Donald will be envious over.

From Daily Wire:

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis‘ presidential campaign raised more money in its first quarter than former President Donald Trump’s current campaign raised in its first two quarters combined, according to newly released data.

The DeSantis campaign announced that it raised $20 million in its first six weeks, which it boasted was “the largest first-quarter filing from any non-incumbent Republican candidate in more than a decade.”

Yikes. Despite all the polls and media coverage, it looks like DeSantis is building more support than Trump. In the first quarter of his campaign, he has raised more money than Trump has in his first two quarters combined.

Keep in mind, that DeSantis has only been running for a month or so but already he’s built a war chest that rivals Trump’s.

Trump has spent considerable time and energy bashing his former ally. It seems Trump fears DeSantis more than Joe Biden, thanks to the governor’s record-breaking success.

But cash does not necessarily result in votes. And DeSantis will have to somehow get more supporters from the GOP than Trump, if he wishes to make it to the general election. Can he do that? Can he derail the Trump train and secure the nomination for himself?

I guess we’ll find out.

Key Takeaways:

  • Ron DeSantis raised more money in his first quarter than Trump in two combined.
  • DeSantis raised $20 million, besting Trump’s $18.3 million.
  • Trump has been attacking his former rival, apparently afraid of his success.
