California is making waves again with a new law that has parents across the state up in arms. The legislation bans schools from reporting to parents their child’s sexuality or gender identity. The left-wing state is the first in the country to pass such legislation.
Parents around the country see it as a blatant overreach. Critics have decried it for infringing on parental rights. But this is just the next step in the government asserting its power over families.
Prior to the passage of this law, billionaire innovator Elon Musk had warned Gov. Newsom. He told him that the state would lose many parents and companies. Naturally, Newsom and his left-wing cabal told Musk to stuff it. They passed the law anyway. Now, Musk is giving Newsom some very bad news.

Billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk announced on Tuesday that he is moving the headquarters of SpaceX and X, formerly Twitter, out of California to Texas, indicating that he was pushed to the decision after California’s Democrat governor, Gavin Newson, signed gender identity reporting legislation into law on Monday.“This is the final straw,” he said in a post to X. “Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.” He added in a second post, “I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children.”
Elon Musk’s Response
Calling this new gender bill “the final straw,” Elon announced he was moving the last of his businesses out of California. He had moved Tesla and some of SpaceX out of the blue state a while ago. But now, with the passage of a law that puts the government over parents, Musk is moving the rest of SpaceX—and his social network X—from California to Texas.
It wasn’t merely this transgender law that provoked this move. Musk explained that many laws that “preceded it” have forced his hand. The billionaire explained in more detail why he was moving X. He is also moving his massive social network, formerly Twitter, out of San Francisco. This, he explained, was because he “had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building.”
A Stark Warning
It seems the rampant crime and social decline of California was another factor. It’s no secret that California has seen an explosion of crime and homelessness thanks to far-left progressive policies. But to further ban schools from telling parents that their child is gay or transgender? That’s a bridge too far for Musk and probably many more parents.
How many families and businesses will leave because of this? Already, we’ve seen many Americans flee California over recent years. It got so bad that, at one point, rental companies ran out of moving trucks! Businesses continue to leave California because of Newsom’s abusive, socialist policies. When will the state wake up and see that these progressive lawmakers are killing them?
