Swing State Democrat Collapse Is All but Complete – New Poll Shows Dr. Oz Now Leading Fetterman By 4.5 Points

When the race for Senate began in Pennsylvania, it seemed clear that Republican challenger Dr. Mehmet Oz was the underdog.

Democrat John Fetterman held a commanding lead during early polling, and most predicted another left-wing victory for the blue state. But in the past month or so, the tide has turned dramatically.

And now, what appeared to be an easy victory for Democrats has turned into a potentially shocking upset.

A few weeks ago, we learned that Fetterman’s double-digit lead had disappeared, though most surveys still showed Dr. Oz trailing by a small margin. This was evidence of a colossal turnaround.

In recent weeks, the race has officially shifted into “toss-up” territory, as both candidates moved into neck-and-neck battles.

But over the weekend, the latest poll revealed another surprise: Fetterman hadn’t just tumbled back into a tie with his opponent; he’s now behind Oz, and by a significant margin.

Via The Daily Wire:

A new poll shows that Republican Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz is leading Democrat John Fetterman.

The poll of 1,013 likely voters, conducted by market research firm Wick between October 9-13, found that Oz, the celebrity heart surgeon, leads by 4.5 points over Fetterman, the lieutenant governor, with just two weeks left before the 2022 midterms.

In this latest poll, Oz garnered just over 49 percent while Fetterman came in at 44.6%. And perhaps even more importantly, Oz holds a commanding lead over undecided voters: 59% – 41%.

The bad news didn’t end there for the Democratic Party, though.

Pennsylvania Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro was expected to secure his position rather easily, but that race has also turned into a dogfight. GOP challenger Doug Mastriano is now “within the margin of error.”

Mastriano trails 48.5% – 46.4%, but the survey holds a 3.1% margin of error. The Republican also has a small lead among undecided voters.

At about the same time, an InsiderAdvantage/Fox29 news poll showed the Fetterman/Oz race as being basically tied (at 46 percent apiece).

However, the monumental fall for Fetterman has sparked interest across the nation. It isn’t often that a double-digit advantage disappears, and in such a short span of time before election day.

It’s also notable that Oz is getting more support from African-Americans and Hispanics than ever before, which could sway the polls even more in his direction.

It’s the undecided voters that might be in a position to determine all these PA races.

And if they all flock to the polls in a few weeks time, the traditionally blue state of Pennsylvania could look very different by the end of the year.

Key Takeaways:

  • A new poll shows that Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz is now leading Democrat John Fetterman by 4.5 points.
  • This represents a giant double-digit turnaround from summer polling.
  • Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro also appears to suddenly be in danger, as his GOP rival is within the margin of error in their race.
