Former President Donald Trump’s connection to Ukraine was a target of Democrat politicians long before the war in Ukraine broke out. Liberal Democrats used a simple phone call with Trump as a prelude to impeachment while he was in office.
Democrats also used Trump’s words against him following the Jan. 6 event that set up criminal charges against him and ongoing attempts to remove him from election ballots. Democrats are afraid he will retake the White House in 2024 and they appear to have developed another angle to stop Trump.
The revelation came from Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) who warned of a diabolical plan to set Trump up for failure if he wins the presidential election. Democrats’ plans are hidden, according to Vance, in the $95 billion Senate bill to fund the Ukraine War.

“Buried in the bill’s text is an impeachment time bomb for the next Trump presidency if he tries to stop funding the war in Ukraine. We must vote against this disastrous bill,” Vance posted on X.
The funds, if approved, would extend support to Ukraine through Sept. 30, 2025. This would be nearly a year into Trump’s second term if he is elected again. That is the setup, according to Vance, that could trap Trump if he lives up to a pledge and pauses the money flow before the funds expire. Trump has vowed to end the war in his first 24 hours.
Vance said these federal fund accounts are the same ones for which then-President Trump was impeached after he paused the funds in December 2019. Vance noted that the bill includes $1.6 billion for foreign military financing in Ukraine and $13.7 billion for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.
Allegations at Trump’s first impeachment surrounded claims by Democrats that Trump froze funds for Ukraine to get dirt on then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine. This line of inquiry could be used if Trump fulfills his campaign promises, according to Vance.
“Partisan Democrats would seize on the opportunity to impeach him once again,” Vance said.
Media reports, Vance said, revealed that Biden administration officials are boasting about their plans to tie Trump’s hands on foreign policy. Vance noted that that a U.S. official told the Washington Post the intent was for the bill to “future-proof” aid for Ukraine in case Trump wins this year.
Vance said that the Ukraine bill is an “attempt by the foreign policy blob/deep state to stop President Trump” from enacting his foreign policy and if he does it the Democrats have an impeachment argument to undermine his administration.
The Senate is slated to vote on the bill Monday. It will require 60 votes to pass.
“All Republicans should oppose its passage,” Vance stated. “How ridiculous is this secret set of handcuffs?”
