Democrats were all atwitter over Kamala Harris’ VP pick. It had to be a good one, considering she is running off the back of Biden’s failed administration. Harris has no accomplishments to her name. And besides being a woman of color, there is little reason for liberals to vote for her. Rumors abounded that she was going to pick Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.

The choice was obvious since he was a notable figure in a must-win swing state. But controversy hit her campaign almost immediately, as it came out that Shapiro is Jewish.

Progressive Democrats quickly started attacking him. It seems anti-Israel leftists lump all Jewish people with Israel, confirming claims that the far-left wing of the party is becoming increasingly antisemitic. Hot on the wings of this, other scandals conveniently emerged against Shapiro. And, seemingly caving to antisemites, Harris rejected Shapiro for someone else.

By Monday afternoon, however, sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters that the options had been narrowed down to Shapiro and Walz. Recent scandals have resurfaced over the past few days, potentially knocking Shapiro out. There were also concerns that he was too supportive of Israel.

Shapiro Out of the Running

Just last week, rumors strongly indicated that Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania would become Harris’ running mate. She was going to announce her pick in Philadelphia, only adding fuel to the fire. Yet soon after that news came out, antisemitic progressives piled on Shapiro, a Jewish American. Shapiro is a vocal supporter of Israel. Harris has tried to win back anti-Israel voters by refusing to condemn their movement. But if she dumped Shapiro, pro-Israel voters would be ticked off.

How convenient, then, that other scandals emerged just at the same time! The media reported on Shapiro’s supposed involvement in a sexual harassment case involving a former aide. Others have tried to connect him to the death of Ellen Greenberg, which police claimed was a suicide, despite evidence suggesting she was murdered. People have claimed Shapiro backed the original claim that Greenberg committed suicide, although his role in that case is unclear.

Bending to Pressure

It appears that Harris was given excuses for ditching Shapiro, that would let her avoid saying it was because he’s Jewish. Instead, she is picking the “safer” candidate, an unknown Democrat named Tim Walz. Walz is best known for doing nothing as governor of Minnesota as BLM and other rioters destroyed numerous cities. It is not clear what Walz will bring to Harris’ campaign, except for being an old white man that could bring in older voters.
