Anti-Israel protesters stormed onto college campuses across the nation over the last week. The protesters aren’t acting as peaceful as liberals say, even calling for death to all Jews and death to America.
Protests escalated early this week as the often pro-Hamas agitators clashed with school officials and law enforcement. Hundreds were arrested across various campuses in an attempt to stop the protests from growing more violent.
The Biden administration has largely sat back and watched the growing protests (we can only speculate he had ice cream as he watched the news) and done nothing to initiate a response. A senior Republican U.S. senator said enough is enough and called out Biden to take action.
From The Daily Wire:
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) asked President Joe Biden on Tuesday to mobilize the National Guard in response to pro-Palestinian protests that have led to safety concerns for Jewish students at Columbia University and other colleges across the country.“On college campuses across the United States, Jewish Americans are at risk,” Hawley said, adding that “most alarmingly, in-person classes at Columbia University have been cancelled” right as the Jewish holiday of Passover was set to begin. “You must immediately mobilize the National Guard and any other authorities necessary to ensure the safety of Jewish American students and citizens.”
Hawley called out Biden by demanding the president do something after his recent Passover message. Biden called antisemitism “reprehensible and dangerous” and such sentiment and any violence associated with it has no place anywhere in the country.
“Now, you must take action to match those words,” Hawley said.
Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), chairwoman of the Education and the Workforce Committee, urged Columbia administrators to expel any students and faculty members found harassing Jewish students.
Protests at Columbia resulted in multiple arrests and student suspensions, even as law enforcement stepped up its presence. Anti-Israel protests have spread like wildfire to campuses across the country, including Yale, MIT, University of Texas, and more.
House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said Columbia President Minouche Shafik was exposed for a lack of confidence in her leadership and demanded her resignation. Democrats from as far as Florida showed up at Columbia in a show of support for Jewish students facing threats from protesters.
