Every American deserves elected leaders who show up with one goal: make life better for the people they serve. Secure the border. Lower taxes. Keep neighborhoods safe. It’s the basic compact of self-governance, and it shouldn’t be a controversial expectation.

With midterms just days away, Democrats are openly campaigning on the dream of reclaiming Congress. But a stunning admission from one of their most prominent governors should make every voter stop and wonder – do these people actually want to govern, or are they just hungry for payback?

From Fox News Digital:

Gov. Kathy Hochul, D-N.Y., told Politico Tuesday that she was “excited” at the possibility of a Democratic Congress holding up President Donald Trump’s agenda through investigations and hearings.

Hochul brought up the concept while discussing the Democrat Party’s chances of not only retaking the House in November, but the Senate as well. With both chambers of Congress, Hochul said Democrats could halt the “corruption” she alleged was occurring under the Trump administration.

“We are hoping for the House, but to get the Senate on top of it, next level, game-changing, extraordinary,” Hochul said. “So, I’m excited about this. When you talk about Trump’s next two years with that Democratic House and Senate, hey, guess what? There’s investigations, there’s hearings, there’s subpoenas, there’s questioning.”

Not a word about inflation. Nothing on the border. Zero mention of improving anyone’s daily life. The governor of New York is giddy – her word, essentially – about subpoenas. That tells you everything about where the Democrat Party’s head is right now.

Vendetta disguised as governance

White House spokesperson Lauren Bis didn’t mince words: “Democrats have no agenda to improve the lives of Americans – their only agenda is to continue their decade-long witch hunt against President Trump.” Meanwhile, New York Republican State Committee communications director David Laska noted that Hochul “said the quiet part out loud.”

He’s spot on. This isn’t oversight. It’s obstruction with a press badge. And Hochul delivered the confession voluntarily, almost proudly.

The hypocrisy you shouldn’t overlook

Here’s the rich part. In that same interview, Hochul expressed hope for partnering with President Trump on nuclear energy projects in New York. She actually needs the president’s cooperation when it serves her state – but wants to kneecap his entire agenda everywhere else. Pick a lane, Governor.

And while she’s daydreaming about congressional hearings, New York continues hemorrhaging residents. The state leads the nation in outmigration and remains one of the most taxed, least affordable places to live in America. Those are problems worth losing sleep over. Subpoena fantasies are not.

Voters walking into polling stations next week face a clear choice: representatives who want to strengthen this country, or politicians perfectly willing to waste two years of governance chasing a grudge.

Key Takeaways

  • Hochul admitted Democrats plan to use Congress for investigations, not governance.
  • She wants Trump’s help on energy but pledges to obstruct his broader agenda.
  • New Yorkers face record taxes and outmigration while their governor plots subpoenas.
