This week, the Republican Party held yet another primary debate. Numerous candidates have dropped out, but there are still several fighting for votes.
Polling has not been kind to these candidates, with most of them struggling to get double-digit support.
Now, their chances of winning the nomination might grow even slimmer. A top Republican businessman has just given his endorsement. And he is making an urgent call to the party.
From Just the News:
Bernie Marcus, the 94-year-old founder of Home Depot and Job Creators Network and the dean of the conservative donor class, threw his support Thursday behind former President Donald Trump in 2024 and implored Republicans to train their resources on attacking President Joe Biden instead of each other.
The founder of Home Depot and creator of the Job Creators Network just endorsed Donald Trump for president. The billionaire donor was deeply critical of the ongoing Republican debates, calling the last one “unproductive and embarrassing.”
He is calling on the party to end what many are calling a charade, and support Trump. He said, “Donald Trump is going to win the nomination.” It seems Marcus wants the party to stop the bickering and use its resources to defeat Joe Biden.
Marcus called Trump’s first term “excellent stewardship of the United States.” He also said Trump has the “best chance of winning the general election.”
Some are dissecting the timing of Marcus’s endorsement. It came shortly after the underwhelming GOP debate. It is possible he and other GOP donors were holding out support, hoping another candidate would emerge to best Trump.
Others have urged most of the Republican candidates to drop out so that one rival can defeat Trump. Some believe that Ron DeSantis or Nikki Haley have the best shot at beating Trump and that those still running might be stealing votes from them.
But the Home Depot icon flatly stated that only Trump can “dismantle the administrative state that is strangling America.” He also praised Trump’s success on foreign policy, saying America’s enemies “respected” and “feared” President Trump.
Trump enjoys numerous endorsements from Republican leaders and conservative figures. But it doesn’t appear that his rivals are willing to drop out yet. Gov. DeSantis scored the endorsement of Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds. How that affects the state’s caucuses remains to be seen.
- Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus endorsed Donald Trump for president.
- He urged the party to end the debates and use its resources to defeat Joe Biden.
- Donald Trump is leading his GOP rivals by large margins, according to most polls.
