McCarthy Takes Major Step To Upset Pelosi In 2022 – For The 3rd Month In A Row, The GOP Sets Fundraising Record

Republicans in the House, led by Kevin McCarthy, have one primary goal right now: reclaim the majority in the House of Representatives in the 2022 midterm elections.

And take Speaker Pelosi’s gavel out of her hands.

History is on their side, too, as the party that control the White House loses 25 House seats on average during the midterms.

But the GOP has another big advantage now.

It takes money to win elections, as everyone in politics knows. That’s why fundraising remains a critical aspect of every party’s future.

Democrats often pull in big-money donations, and they occasionally tallied record hauls in the past year.

But the Republican Party is really surging in this department.

For the third month in a row, the GOP had a record-breaking fundraising month, and the numbers are looking rosier than ever before.

Via Fox News:

Aiming to win back the House of Representatives majority in the 2022 midterms, the House Republican reelection arm says it brought in a record fundraising haul last month.

…the committee raised over $14 million in May as it builds resources toward next year’s elections.

This number did include a transfer of $5M from the RNC (Republican National Committee).

However, the GOP is still sitting pretty:

They ended the month of May with over $42 million in available cash, which is more than twice the amount it had at this point in the last election cycle.

On top of that, the party still has zero debt.

All this spells potential trouble for House Democrats, who are clinging to a narrow majority in the House. Said NRCC Chairman Rep. Tom Emmer:

Americans are ready to do whatever is necessary to stop Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats’ socialist agenda.

May’s record-breaking fundraising numbers are just the latest indication that House Republicans are primed to retake the majority.

In comparison, the Democrat Party had $32 million in cash on hand, with no debt at the start of May.

This means Republicans still hold a significant money edge. And if they continue to set fundraising records, that could mean good news for 2022.

And they’re already in decent position — the GOP only needs a net gain of 5 seats to retake the House majority.

Key Takeaways:

  • Republicans set a fundraising record for the third month in a row.
  • The GOP has $42.1M in cash on hand and zero debt.
  • NRCC Chairman Rep. Tom Emmer says these numbers mean they’re “primed to retake the House majority.”
