House Votes on Impeaching Biden Ally – Now We Can’t Forget These 8 GOP Names

What’s Happening:

House Republicans only have a short window to hold the Biden administration accountable. Elections are just a year away, they might lose the majority and their chance to strike back.

Republican investigators have been pursuing impeachment against the president for months.

Recently, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene put forward a motion to impeach one of Biden’s top officials. But a move that arose from the border crisis was derailed, thanks to eight Republicans.

From Breitbart:
The House voted 209-201 Monday night to sideline a resolution introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his disastrous mishandling of the border..

Greene’s resolution read that Mayorkas had engaged “in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with the laws of the United States,” accusing him of “willful admittance of border crossers, terrorist human traffickers, drugs, and other contraband.”

The House voted not to pass a resolution to impeach Mayorkas, instead pushing it to a committee. Most pundits have stated that this resolution will “die” in committee, never reaching the House floor again.

Conservatives are expressing outrage that eight Republicans helped Democrats sideline this resolution.

From The Post Millennial:
Greene chalked the eight Republicans’ actions up to “lack of will” and “lack of courage,” calling it “shameful.” …the eight Republicans are:

-Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO)
-Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA)
-Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA)
-Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC)
-Rep. John Duarte (R-CA)
-Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC)
-Rep. Cliff Bentz (R-OR)
-Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH)

Eight House Republicans voted with Democrats to shelve the motion against Mayorkas. MTG accused her colleagues of lacking “will” and “courage,” saying their decision to help Democrats was “shameful.”

The Republicans hail from the liberal state of California, as well as the swing states of Ohio, Colorado, and North Carolina. It’s unclear why they voted to prevent Mayorkas’s impeachment. It is possible they feared backlash from voters, although that is unlikely.

Mayorkas has been repeatedly blamed by Republicans for the ongoing border crisis. Mayorkas has issued memos and directives that prevented Border Patrol and DHS from deporting illegal entrants. Under his leadership, the DHS has allowed in nearly five million border crossers.

Key Takeaways:

  • A resolution to impeach DHS head Mayorkas was pushed to a House committee.
  • The motion was put forward by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has long criticized Mayorkas.
  • Eight Republicans joined with Democrats to prevent Mayorkas from being impeached.
