Look, I remember when Americans could disagree without anyone ending up dead. We’d argue at dinner tables and debate in town halls. Nobody got shot for having the wrong opinion. Those days feel like ancient history now.

Recent events have shaken even those on the left who once laughed at conservative warnings about political violence. When Hollywood liberals start sounding like us, maybe it’s time everyone paid attention.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk at his “American Comeback Tour” kickoff in Utah proves what we’ve been saying all along. Jay Leno—yes, that Jay Leno who mocked Republicans for decades—went on Tim Conway Jr.’s radio show with a message that should terrify every American. He called it “the death of free speech.”

From ‘The Blaze’:

Jay Leno expressed his shock and bewilderment about the assassination of Charlie Kirk in a call to a local Los Angeles radio talk show Wednesday evening.

Leno expressed his outrage to Tim Conway Jr. on his KFI AM show about the death of Kirk and opined that it was a political assassination meant to squelch free speech…

“It’s not a random shooting. It’s the death of free speech! To think that you are so illiterate and so stupid you can’t answer verbally, and you have to shoot somebody with a gun to ‘win the argument.'”

Think about that for a second. Since when did losing a debate become a death sentence?

The Lost Art of Debate

Leno remembers when Americans settled differences with words, not weapons. He talked about watching James Baldwin debate William F. Buckley at Oxford. Two brilliant minds. Total opposites. Zero violence.

“Here are two guys, both way smarter than I am, and I understood both their points of view,” Leno said. Can you imagine that happening today? The left won’t even let conservatives speak on campus anymore.

He even compared this to Kent State in 1970. But here’s the thing—Leno admitted he didn’t always agree with Kirk. He just enjoyed listening to different ideas. What happened to that America?

When Ideology Turns Violent

Here’s where it gets really sick. The ATF found ammunition with engravings about “transgender and anti-fascist ideology.” This wasn’t random. This was targeted political terrorism.

Then a Secret Service agent said Kirk “got what he deserved.” Are you kidding me? These are the people supposed to protect all Americans. When federal agents celebrate political murder, we’ve got a serious problem.

While President Trump ordered flags at half-mast and gave Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the left celebrated on social media. They blamed Kirk for his own murder. His crime? Having conservative views that millions of Americans share.

A President’s Dignified Response

Vice President Vance personally brought Kirk’s body home on Air Force Two. Trump caught the killer fast. That’s what real leadership looks like.

Compare that to the professionals cheering a man’s death online. How did we get here? When did half the country decide violence was okay if it’s against conservatives?

Let me be clear here. This isn’t just about losing one voice. When people can’t win with words, they use weapons. Even Jay Leno sees it now. “It’s really the death of free speech,” he said.

We have two choices. Keep going until more conservatives die. Or remember how to disagree without destroying each other. If we don’t defend free speech now, we’ll lose it forever. And once it’s gone, it’s not coming back.

Key Takeaways

  • Jay Leno condemned Kirk’s assassination as “the death of free speech”
  • The shooter’s ammunition bore anti-fascist and transgender ideology engravings
  • Even liberals recognize political violence threatens American democracy
  • Trump honored Kirk with Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously
