President Biden Breaks Record: Issues 39 Pardons, Commutes 1,500 Sentences

We are thankfully just one month away from Joe Biden finally leaving office. Though he is now a lame duck president, he is sadly not done making moves that are nothing short of despicable.

Earlier this month, Biden shocked the nation when he pardoned his son Hunter. He did this after promising not to pardon Hunter many times over the past few years.

On Thursday morning, Biden made it clear that the pardon for Hunter was only the beginning. Indeed, Biden just shattered a record that never should have been broken.

From Fox News:
President Biden has commuted jail sentences for nearly 1,500 people and granted 39 pardons, marking the largest single-day act of clemency in modern history, the White House announced Thursday morning.

Sentences were commuted for inmates placed on home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic and who “have successfully reintegrated into their families and communities,” according to the announcement. The 39 individuals pardoned were convicted of non-violent crimes, the White House said.

“The President has issued more sentence commutations at this point in his presidency than any of his recent predecessors at the same point in their first terms,” White House officials said in a statement.

The previous record for a single-day act of clemency was held by Barack Obama. He commuted 330 sentences in one day just before he left office in 2017.

“America was built on the promise of possibility and second chances,” Biden said in a statement. “As president, I have the great privilege of extending mercy to people who have demonstrated remorse and rehabilitation, restoring opportunity for Americans to participate in daily life and contribute to their communities, and taking steps to remove sentencing disparities for non-violent offenders, especially those convicted of drug offenses.”

Biden Isn’t Done Yet

Making matters even worse, Biden has indicated that he’s far from done issuing pardons and clemency in the final days of his presidency.

“I will take more steps in the weeks ahead,” Biden ominously stated. “My Administration will continue reviewing clemency petitions to advance equal justice under the law, promote public safety, support rehabilitation and reentry, and provide meaningful second chances.”

This just goes to show that Biden has no shame. It also cements Biden as one of the worst presidents of all time.

These far-reaching pardons and clemencies came just one day after an Associated Press poll found that just 2 in 10 Americans approved of the Hunter pardon. Even most Democrats were left disgusted that Biden lied to them for years, adamantly saying that he would never pardon his son.

Biden most recently denied that he would pardon Hunter back in June. When asked if he had “ruled out a pardon” for his son, Joe emphatically replied, “Yes.”

“I abide by the jury decision. I will do that and I will not pardon him,” Joe said as Hunter was facing trial in a Delaware gun case.

In defending this pardon, Biden claimed that Hunter was “singled out only because he is my son.” He also claimed that there was an effort to “break Hunter” in order to “break me.”

Yeah right, Joe…

In the end, Biden has been a truly terrible president the likes of which this country has never seen before. January 20 can’t come soon enough!
