In the months since Kamala Harris became Joe Biden’s replacement in the 2024 presidential race, she’s avoided the press as much as possible. On the rare occasions that she does speak to the media, Harris has embarrassed herself with frequent gaffes.
When Harris does manage to speak coherently, she typically dances around questions as she desperately attempts to dodge accountability for her and Biden’s many failures. She did that once again on Monday night when she was confronted about her border failures while being interviewed on 60 Minutes.
One of the few tasks that Biden gave Harris during her time as his vice president was to be his “border czar.” Instead of fixing the border crisis, however, it only got exponentially worse on Harris’ watch.
To his credit, CBS News’ Bill Whitaker stepped up to ask Harris if it was a “mistake” for her and Biden’s administration to go soft on the border.
“You recently visited the southern border and embraced President Biden’s recent crackdown on asylum seekers, and that crackdown produced an almost immediate and dramatic decrease in the number of border crossings,” Whitaker said. “If that’s the right answer now, why didn’t your administration take those steps in 2021?”
Harris proceeded to dodge the question not once, not twice, but three times.
From Daily Mail:
‘The first bill we proposed to Congress was to fix our broken immigration system, knowing that if you want to actually fix it, we need Congress to act,’ Harris responded flatly. ‘It was not taken up.’She pointed to the bipartisan border deal reached in the Senate before slamming her rival Donald Trump for working to kill the bill. It is a talking point she frequently brings up on the campaign trail. But Whitaker did not go for it.
Whitaker pointed out ‘there was an historic flood of undocumented immigrants coming across the border the first three years of your administration. As a matter of fact, arrivals quadrupled from the last year of President Trump. Was it a mistake to loosen the immigration policies as much as you did?’
‘It’s a longstanding problem,’ Harris pushed back. ‘And solutions are at hand. And from day one, literally, we have been offering solutions.’
Whitaker Doesn’t Back Down
Whitaker interrupted Harris to press her once again.
“What I was asking was, was it a mistake to kind of allow that flood to happen in the first place?” he asked.
“I think– the policies that we have been proposing are about fixing a problem, not promoting a problem, okay?” she responded.
Whitaker and Harris proceeded to talk over one another as the interview descended into chaos.
“But the numbers did quadruple under your –,” he said. Harris interjected to exclaim, “But we need Congress to be able to act to actually fix the problem.”
They then moved on to other topics. It should be noted that Harris never directly responded to this question.

This Is Classic Kamala Harris
This exchange perfectly sums up Harris. She refuses to acknowledge the many failures that have occurred under her and Biden since they came to power. Instead, she deflects when asked to justify the mistakes that she has made, particularly at the border.
The reality is that millions of illegal aliens have flooded the border since Harris became the “border czar.” She and Biden don’t see this as a major issue because they see migrants as easy votes for themselves.
After all, Democrats have spent years making it easier than ever for illegal immigrants to vote. Biden and Harris have alienated millions of actual American citizens with their policies. No wonder they’ve been forced to depend on the votes of foreign migrants to have any chance of staying in power.
Harris has had years to fix the border crisis. Instead, it has gotten worse than ever during her time as vice president. Should Harris become the president, it’s clear that the border crisis will only continue to escalate. America simply can’t afford for this to happen. Here’s hoping that voters remember that when casting their ballots.
Key Takeaways:
- Harris is asked by 60 Minutes to justify her border failures.
- Harris then dodged the question three times.
- Harris has failed miserably in trying to fix the border crisis.
