Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, just might be the most radical leader we’ve seen in a long time. He makes Joe Biden look like Ronald Reagan. Trudeau has outraged Canadians with increasingly restrictive decisions that have expanded the power of the government. From banning firearms to arresting protesting truck drivers, Trudeau went from being compared to Obama to being compared to Fidel Castro.

(Not that there’s a big leap between those two!)

Despite still being a media darling, Trudeau’s popularity has continued to decline among Canadian citizens. And it seems that his troubles are only growing. Not only is his influence over the country slipping, but his own family is coming apart. Because news just came out that he and his wife are parting ways.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday announced that he and his wife Sophie are separating after 18 years of marriage.

Trudeau made the announcement in an Instagram post.

“Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate,” Trudeau wrote.

“As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build,” he continued.

Sure, when you have devastating news about your marriage and family, the best place to announce that is Instagram.

Trudeau, the leftist leader of Canada, revealed he and his wife were separating after 18 years. That’s quite a long time to be married. In fact, they have three children together. Yet despite making it that long, they seem unable to reconcile whatever differences they have.

Separation is not divorce. And perhaps there is hope for this couple. We can’t help but wonder, though, how this terrible development will impact the man’s leadership.

You can’t tell me losing your wife won’t have a negative influence on Trudeau’s ability to lead. Men in less critical roles fall apart when they separate from their wives. Do you mean to tell me Trudeau can keep it together after this?

It’s not my place to say, but this is only going to add to the country’s troubles.
