Midterm elections are just days away, and the Republican Party is hoping for a “red wave” to retake control of the House and Senate.

Many of the more recent predictions show a definite GOP surge across the country, which has resulted in several important races moving to “toss-up” status or leaning toward the conservative candidate.

For the most part, predictions show Republicans winning the House, while the Senate race is more of a dead heat.

But the latest projection might spell disaster for Democrats — while it’s still very tight, it looks like the GOP will come out on top.

Republicans need a net gain of 5 seats to reclaim power in the House, and they only need to flip 1 seat to gain the majority in the Senate.

However, while the House is looking quite red, the Senate situation has always been a bigger issue. Some Republican leaders say they just don’t have as many solid candidates on that front.

However, those candidates have been surging lately. And the result could be an 8-seat majority for the GOP (via Washington Examiner):

A RealClearPolitics forecast shows Republicans controlling the Senate with 54 seats, compared to Democrats with 46.

According to this last-minute projection from RCP, Republicans are slated to flip seats in four states: Georgia, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Arizona.

At the same time, this prediction shows Democrats getting “no pickups.”

Things remain extremely tight, though. While Herschel Walker is expected to win in Georgia, some polls show Sen. Raphael Warnock still in the lead. And the gaps in Arizona and Nevada are razor-thin.

Even so, Republicans only need to flip a couple while retaining their current seats. That would be enough for a majority.

It’s the battleground races that have Democrats worried, as projections are now showing multiple races shifting red. These swing state elections will likely determine who holds sway in the Senate after November.

In order to stave off the red wave, President Joe Biden and other leftist leaders have tried focusing their rhetoric on Jan. 6 and abortion.

But surveys show that voters are more concerned about the economy and rising crime, and historically Democrats are not favored in either topic. This could explain the shifting polls in recent weeks.
