Imagine two men who despise everything about each other – their gods, their vision of utopia, their very conception of human nature – clasping hands across a table. They aren’t shaking on a future they share. They’re shaking on a building they both want to demolish. That building is the United States of America, and the handshake is already well underway.

Most Americans over a certain age remember when threats to the republic came with a clear return address – Moscow, Beijing, Tehran. The enemy wore a uniform or flew a flag. So what happens when the threat comes from inside the house, wearing two disguises at once?

The convergence taking shape today is harder to see precisely because it looks impossible on its face. What could godless socialists and radical Islamists possibly have in common? Frank Gaffney has spent a career answering questions like that.

As assistant secretary of defense for international security policy under Ronald Reagan, Gaffney helped stare down the Soviet Union. He founded the Center for Security Policy in 1988 and currently leads the Institute for the American Future. When a man with those credentials sits down to issue a warning, the wise pay attention.

Common cause, common enemy

What Gaffney told Fox News Digital should stop every American in their tracks.

From Fox News Digital:

One can argue that the Sharia supremacists are pursuing communism with a God, or at least a patina, a veneer of religiosity to it. Fundamentally, they’re at the hip in totalitarianism. Yes, with different outcomes in mind, but still perfectly willing to make common cause for the immediate shared objective of destroying the United States, which stands in the way of either of their ambitions.

“Communism with a God.” Let that one marinate. Two totalitarian impulses, different packaging, same target. The far left wants a stateless socialist utopia. Radical Islamists want a global caliphate. Neither project gets off the ground while a constitutional republic built on individual liberty stands in the way. So they’ve agreed on the order of operations: tear down America first, sort out the details later.

And this isn’t one man’s theory. Earlier this month, a Senate Judiciary subcommittee held a hearing titled “Hidden in Plain Sight” – and no, you can’t make that name up – examining the Muslim Brotherhood’s network in America. Sen. Ted Cruz pressed counterterrorism analyst Kyle Shideler on whether the Brotherhood partners with the Democratic Socialists of America. Shideler confirmed it, testifying that both share a “revolutionary objective” to overthrow the U.S. Constitution.

A billion-dollar network in broad daylight

Here’s the number that should keep you up at night: a Fox News Digital investigation identified roughly 425 organizations – spanning communist groups, Muslim advocacy outfits, and anti-Israel coalitions – operating as a coordinated transnational protest network pulling in approximately $1 billion in annual revenue. That’s not a fringe movement. That’s an infrastructure.

I don’t know about you, but here’s what gets me. The Democratic Socialists of America held a rally in solidarity with Palestinians on October 8, 2023 – one day after Hamas murdered over 1,200 innocent Israelis. The bodies weren’t cold. The moral bankruptcy was already organized, funded, and marching in the streets.

Dalia Ziada, a Muslim scholar forced to flee Egypt after condemning the October 7 attacks, has a name for this arrangement. She calls it a “sinful marriage” between radical Islamism and the radical left. When a Muslim woman risks exile to tell you an alliance threatens Western civilization, maybe – just maybe – it’s time to listen.

What Reagan’s generation understood

Here’s the thing. Reagan’s generation didn’t defeat Soviet communism by pretending it was a policy disagreement. They named it. They confronted it. They understood that evil doesn’t negotiate in good faith – it exploits your unwillingness to call it what it is.

The red-green alliance is real. It’s funded. It’s on the congressional record. The only question left is whether enough Americans still have the spine to say so out loud – or whether we’ll keep pretending two scorpions in a bottle aren’t both pointed at us.

Key Takeaways

  • A Reagan-era defense official warns that far-left socialists and radical Islamists are uniting against America.
  • Senate testimony confirms the “red-green alliance” shares a revolutionary goal of overthrowing the Constitution.
  • A coordinated network of roughly 425 organizations pulls in approximately $1 billion annually to fund this movement.
  • An exiled Muslim scholar calls the far-left/Islamist partnership a “sinful marriage” threatening Western civilization.
