“I think there’s a really, really good argument, a compelling argument, that the state has an interest in protecting a fully-formed fetus. I absolutely think that that argument is very convincing. But again, I come down to the fact that I don’t trust the state,” Kennedy said. “I think we need to trust the woman and I don’t think that that’s a satisfactory outcome, because there’s always gonna be instances where bad things happen.”

In what might turn away many conservative voters, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed he was not in favor of the government putting restrictions on abortions. Instead, he said a woman should be able to make the decision for herself, not even the states.

This policy certainly aligns with pro-choice liberals and will shock moderate Republicans who were considering Kennedy as an alternative to Trump. Abortion could be a major issue going into 2024. Ever since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Democrats have used abortion as a major platform issue.
