The confirmation hearings for Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, have been going on all week and have finally concluded today.
While these hearings haven’t pulled the same level of attention as the hearings for Justice Kavanaugh, they certainly have contained plenty of drama thanks to the Democrats.
There has been a lot of speculation as to whether or not republicans would be able to push her through and make things official before the election, and it looks like today we have some big news to report.
Senator Mitt Romney, who has been critical of Trump lately, finally weighed in on his decision about ACB. I think you’ll like what you hear:
After meeting with Judge Barrett and carefully reviewing her record and her testimony, I intend to vote in favor of her confirmation to the Supreme Court,” Romney said in a statement. – IJR
This is amazing news!
Previously, Romney had hinted towards this decision, but reserved the right to change his mind depending on her qualifications and the hearings.
It appears we have passed that hurdle now. Though if I’m being honest, he would have had a very hard time making the case that ACB is unqualified when she graduated top of her class and has been given so many honors.
We just reported in the last week that the American Bar Association ranked her as “well qualified.”
Romney went on to clarify his reasoning:
The Constitution gives the President the power to nominate and the Senate the authority to provide advice and consent on Supreme Court nominees, Romney said. – IJR
Believe me, I’m no Romney fan. This RINO (Republican in name only) has been a thorn in our side for pretty much this entire administration.
I’m guessing this is a result of him being upset about losing to Donald Trump. I’m just glad when the time came and his vote matters the most, he’s deciding to do the right thing.
Hopefully we will be welcoming a brand new supreme court justice Amy Coney Barrett very soon!
