Former President Donald Trump holds a commanding lead for the 2024 GOP nomination, according to many polls. However, political experts say that even if he gets the nod, he’ll never win the election.
They claim that Democrats really want Trump to nab the nomination, because it would mean clear sailing for incumbent Joe Biden.
And it seems The Terminator himself agrees with that assessment.
Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently sat down with CNN’s Dana Bash, and said that Trump will win one battle for 2024 — but he’ll ultimately lose the war.
He first said that “no one” in the mainstream media covered the January 6 D.C. riots correctly.
He said the focus was all about “get those right-wingers” and “let’s put them in jail.” Schwarzenegger added that the important question is, “why are people really upset and angry at the government?”
However, that anger and corresponding support of Trump won’t be enough, according to the former Golden State leader:

He is going to go, maybe get the Republican nomination. Then, when it comes down to the actual election, there is too many people now that have seen what he did, as President, that I think when it comes to the majority, on Election Day, I think they will see the difference, between one or the other.
And believe me, I’m not the first one, to say, ‘Hey, this is really great to have Biden back as president.’
Schwarzenegger hasn’t been a big fan of Biden or his administration, and has spoken out on this subject multiple times.
He also has sided with Trump on several issues in the past, so perhaps it’s surprising to hear him say he expects Trump to lose in 2024. He did, however, make it clear that Biden isn’t the right person for the job.
Many moderate Republicans and Conservatives are hoping someone other than Trump gets the GOP nomination, because they say there’s little chance of victory in 2024 if Donald gets it.
They pull for other candidates, like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (who has yet to officially announce a run).
Trump easily beats DeSantis in most GOP polls these days, but often falls short when up against Biden in a mock 2024 poll. And the media is bound to crucify him for at least the next year before voting starts.
Schwarzenegger might be right: the only way for Republicans to win is to give the 2024 nomination to someone else.
