Secret Service Head Shows Up RNC, Gets into Heated Confrontation with Senators

The Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle somehow thought it would be a good idea to show up to the Republican National Convention on Wednesday just days after an assassination attempt on the former President Donald Trump happened on her watch.

Unfortunately for her, however, it didn’t take long before it became apparent that she had made a huge mistake.

Video is going viral showing a group of Republican Senators angrily confronting Cheatle. They represent the millions of conservatives who blame the Secret Service’s incompetence for allowing the shooting against Trump to happen in the first place.

The Secret Service has rightfully received tons of backlash in recent days. Despite this, Cheatle has still defiantly refused to step down. After seeing the reception that she got at the RNC, however, we wouldn’t be surprised if Cheatle is regretting that now.

From Axios:
Senate Republican Conference Chair Barrasso said in a video shared with Axios that he and Blackburn “went face to face” with the Secret Service chief to seek answers on what happened at the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally with GOP nominee Trump.

Specifically, they wanted answers on “how that shooter was able to get off a clear shot when the FBI and the Secret Service knew that there was a suspicious person an hour in advance of when the shooting occurred and they identified a potential threat,” he said, in reference to reports that emerged Wednesday.

Blackburn said that Cheatle “would not answer our questions and wanted to say it was not the time nor place.

“This is after we’ve been through a conference call today. … She can run but she cannot hide because the American people want to know how an assassination attempt was carried out on former President Donald Trump,” Blackburn added.

Cheatle’s ‘Sloped Roof’ Excuse

This comes days after a gunman opened fire on Trump from the top of a nearby building during a rally in Pennsylvania. Afterwards, Cheatle had the nerve to defend not having a Secret Service agent placed on top of that building because it has a “sloped roof.”

From The Hill:
“That building in particular has a sloped roof, at its highest point,” Cheatle said in an interview that aired on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Tuesday morning to the outlet’s Pierre Thomas. “And so, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof. And so, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.”

A 20 year-old with a gun was able to effortlessly scale this building. Once on top of it, he was able to lay flat on his stomach to open fire on Trump. Yet Cheatle expects us to believe that it was too dangerous for one Secret Service agent to secure?

You really can’t make this stuff up.

No wonder conservatives everywhere are so frustrated by Cheatle’s refusal to step down. It should be noted that during Barack Obama’s presidency, his Secret Service director resigned after a knife-wielding man managed to jump the fence at the White House. Nobody was even actually injured in that case. However, Secret Service Director Julia Pierson was so humiliated by what happened that she felt that stepping down was her only option.

This assassination attempt on Trump occurred on Cheatle’s watch. Had the Secret Service been on their game, it never would have happened. That’s why it’s time for Cheatle to take some responsibility and resign immediately.

Enough is enough. Former presidents like Trump deserve better from the Secret Service.
