This week, Americans were treated with some footage from Trump’s trial in New York City. This civil trial was launched by Democrat DA Letitia James. She claimed Trump lied about his businesses and could face civil penalties, which might amount to billions taken from the former president.

Critics have slammed the judge presiding over the case, Judge Arthur Engoron. He had previously grossly undervalued Trump’s properties, including his luxury resort in Florida. On Monday, he shocked viewers by smiling smugly at news cameras. Some believe he has a bias against Trump.

The hearing lasted the day, with the judge being the sole decider, not a jury. Despite the media hype and controversy, Trump emerged defiant. And he revealed something that should result in a big win for his business.

Judge Engoron, who got attention for his possible anti-Trump bias, reportedly ruled that much of the claims made against Trump are outside the statute of limitations. Which could mean that James and her prosecutors cannot charge Trump over them.

Trump claimed that “80%” of the case is “over,” due to what the judge said. This could serve as a huge blow to prosecutors’ agenda. James and other New York state prosecutors had long claimed Trump was guilty of various wrongful business activities.

Yet if what the judge said holds true, Trump will face little penalty from this case, if any. That should lead to an obvious question from many Americans, why are Democrats pursuing this case at all? Didn’t they know the statute of limitations had already passed?

This could serve to confirm many people’s suspicions that these Democrat-led trials are motivated by partisan politics. Trump himself blasted the trial after he came out of the hearing.
