Woke Starbucks Gets A Mega Dose Of Karma – They Just Got Slammed By A Major Lawsuit

What’s Happening:

Starbucks is one of the country’s largest coffee shop chains. It is also a company that has long been embroiled in social/political controversy. From holiday cups to social justice, the Seattle-based corporation has been blasted by Americans for pushing “woke” ideology.

But recently, its support of progressive causes came back to hurt it: the company allowed its workers to form a union, called Starbucks Workers United, and the aggressive logo of the group evokes the idea of BLM/Marxist leaning.

The company was shocked when chapters of this union posted attacks against Israel after it went to war with Hamas. Starbucks sued the union, demanding it change its name and logo. In response, the union turned on its employer.

From Daily Wire:
The Starbucks workers’ union responded by filing its own lawsuit against the company in federal court in Pennsylvania. The union is accusing Starbucks of defaming the union by implying that it supports “terrorism, hate and violence.”…

Starbucks Workers United posted “Solidarity with Palestine!” on X on October 9, two days after Hamas launched its deadly attacks on Israel that killed more than 1,400 people…

…the Boston chapter [of the union] posted that it condemns the Israeli military for “senselessly and viciously bombing, murdering, and injuring innocent Palestinians.”

Starbucks is going to court against a union that represents its baristas. The company turned on Starbucks Workers United after several chapters posted support for Palestine and spread common progressive rhetoric attacking Israel in the aftermath of the terror attacks.

The union appears to be allying with Black Lives Matter and other far-left groups that have condemned Israel and seemingly ignored the horrific actions of Hamas against helpless Israeli civilians.

Starbucks strongly condemned the posts by the union and sued it to change its name and logo–to distance it from the company. In response, the union has turned around and sued the company that employs its members, accusing it of defaming the union.

The union claimed Starbucks is implying that union chapters support “terrorism.” That is a hard claim to erase, when these chapters posted support for a terror group and seemed to ignore the deaths of 1,500 Israelis.

Some might point out that Starbucks is suffering the consequences of its many years of supporting the progressive left. The company has been far from neutral in expressing its political views, and many Americans have stopped supporting the company.

It is likely Starbucks wouldn’t be in the situation in the first place, had it not allowed its baristas to unionize.

Key Takeaways:

  • Starbucks sued its employee union over posts supporting Palestine.
  • The Marxist-leaning union sued the company over defamation.
  • Several chapters of the union appeared to condemn Israel and ignore the terror attack.
