Many are saying that the Georgia runoff races were won over promises of COVID checks.
Some claim Republicans lost because McConnell blocked the increased checks of $2,000. Could be true.
Biden even said he’d give out $2,000 to every American if Democrats gained those seats.
But now, it looks like Biden and Congress are trying to pass $1,400 checks—claiming it is a part of their previous payments.
And it seems Georgia voters are furious. From Fox News:
Georgia Democrats have reportedly already begun fuming over their two new senators, the Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff…
But a major issue raised by critics is that President Biden espoused a coronavirus relief plan that would send $1,400 checks to many Americans – while Warnock and Ossoff campaigned on a $2,000 promise.
Hmm… it seems Democrat voters were told they’d get bigger checks if they voted these men into office.
Now that it looks like they are getting less, they are feeling a kind of “buyer’s remorse.”
(We could have told them it would happen, but hey, Democrats don’t listen to us.)
Worse than that is the news that COVID relief might not even get passed until March 2021.
Can Georgia residents (or anyone else) really wait three more months for help? Some regions have been shut down for nearly a year.
Those checks aren’t much compared to what has been lost, but they could have helped.
Democrats refused to provide additional relief all last year. Now that they have more support in D.C., they are wasting time with impeachment and God knows what else.
Meanwhile, Americans continue to grapple with the pandemic and various levels of lockdowns.
What did Democrats say about being a party for the people?
- Georgia voters are angry at the senators they just elected.
- Dems promised $2,000 checks, but are now committing to the lower amount of $1,400.
- COVID relief might not come until March.
