Top Republican Makes Surprise Trump Announcement – And Donald Will Love to Hear It

Over the years, we’ve heard about top Republicans’ opposition to Donald Trump. Many of them saw their careers crash and burn, especially those who voted against him in 2021.

But even to this day, some GOP figures openly criticize Trump. It seems some of them are seeking the respect and attention of the liberal media.

One Republican called on voters to reject Trump in the early days of the 2016 Election. That outraged the GOP so much, that some of them opposed this man’s own campaign. But now, the leading figure is discussing what he had once said about Trump. And he is shocking the press with this admission.

From The Hill:
Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) said Sunday that his past remarks about then-candidate Donald Trump ahead of the 2016 election were “wrong.”…

“But, look, my view on Donald Trump — I have been very clear on this — is, look, I was wrong about him. I didn’t think he was going to be a good president, Dana, and I was very, very proud to be proven wrong. It’s one of the reasons why I’m working so hard to get him elected,” he replied on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Vance had made comments against Trump’s bid in 2016, prompting Ohio Republicans in 2022 to urge Trump not to endorse him. Vance ended up clinching Trump’s support and winning his election.

Back in 2016, JD Vance called for Christian voters to not support Trump. This came soon after the Access Hollywood scandal that the media used to try to torch his campaign. Trump held his own during that time and it helped secure his 2016 victory.

Today, Sen. Vance is admitting he was “wrong” about Trump back in 2016. What changed his mind? According to the senator, it was Trump’s time in office. He said he was proven wrong when he watched Trump serve the country.

Now, the senator is saying he is “working so hard” to get him elected. Sen. Vance is considered even to be on Trump’s shortlist for VP. In 2022, Trump even endorsed Vance’s campaign for Senate—which he won.

More recently, Vance was seen accompanying Trump to the New York courthouse—where he faces a criminal case from Democrats. It seems the senator has done a major 180 on the former president. And he is not sorry to admit it.

Key Takeaways:

  • Vance admitted he was wrong to criticize Trump in 2016.
  • He said he didn’t think Trump would be a good president but has been “proven wrong.”
  • Vance is one of a few Republicans who are on Trump’s VP shortlist.
