Top Trump Ally Makes Big Court Move – This Is a Game-Changer for Donald’s Case

What’s Happening:

As you probably know, Democrats at the state level and in the federal government have hit Trump with four indictments. Many Americans believe these shocking and unprecedented moves against a former president are politically motivated. Democrats terrified that Trump might return to the White House, are apparently using their last, most extreme attempts at stopping him.

The latest indictment comes from a Democrat prosecutor in Georgia. She is not only charging Trump, but 18 other members of the Trump administration. Even those who were not in Georgia, at the time she is accusing them of crimes. One former Trump official is not taking these charges lying down. And he just made a move that could upend the entire case.

From Fox News:

Former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has asked to move his charges in the Georgia 2020 election interference case to federal court.

On Tuesday, Meadows petitioned the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia to remove his case from Fulton County Superior Court, arguing that federal law shields him from state prosecution for actions undertaken as a federal officer. In his court filing, attorneys for Meadows declared his intention to seek dismissal of all charges brought against him.

These indictments against a former president and his staff are rising endless legal questions. The latest charges come from a Democrat prosecutor who was outed for launching a fundraiser website days before the indictment.

But can a state prosecutor charge a federal employee with a crime? Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff, is claiming federal law shields him from state prosecution, while he was executing his office as a federal official. He is petitioning the court to move his case from Georgia to a federal court.

It is possible this move would undermine the entire case, giving grounds for it to be dismissed. After all, if Meadows can’t be charged by a state prosecutor, then there is no case against him. Or, if he’s convicted in a federal court, a future Republican president can dismiss the charges.

This could open the door for the rest of the charges, against the 18 other defendants, to be dropped.

Legal experts have already questioned the validity of this case, given it involves constitutionally protected political speech. Some have explained the DA has no case because she cannot prove Trump tried to coerce Georgia into changing the outcome of the election.

Charging these 18 other former Trump officials comes off as a wild swing. Not rooted in actual evidence, but a desperate attempt by Democrat to make a name for herself. Such a move could jeopardize the entire case–and the other cases against Trump.

Key Takeaways:

  • Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows requested his Georgia case to be moved to federal court.
  • He argued that state prosecutors cannot charge a federal officer while doing his job.
  • If the court agrees, this could pave the way for all the charges to be dismissed.
