Trump Blasts Obama’s Syria Legacy, Says U.S. Shouldn’t Get Involved in Syria

There’s long been no love lost between Donald Trump and Barack Obama. Indeed, Obama worked overtime this year to try and ensure that Kamala Harris would defeat Trump in the presidential election.

Unfortunately for Obama, however, these efforts failed miserably. Over the weekend, Trump took to Truth Social to lash out at Obama while arguing that the U.S. should not get involved in the current conflict in Syria.

At the time of this writing, rebels are trying to take over Syria’s capital city of Damascus. They’re doing this in the hopes of overthrowing President Bashar al-Assad’s government. Trump, however, thinks that the U.S. “should have nothing to do with” the ongoing conflict in Syria.

From The Independent:
“THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. LET IT PLAY OUT. DO NOT GET INVOLVED!” Trump wrote.

Yet at the same time, Trump blamed Obama for failing to intervene in the conflict in 2013 when the Russia-backed government used chemical weapons as a form of attack – something Obama initially said was the “red line” that would move the U.S. to get involved.

“This is where former President Obama refused to honor his commitment of protecting the RED LINE IN THE SAND, and all hell broke out, with Russia stepping in,” Trump wrote. “Opposition fighters in Syria, in an unprecedented move, have totally taken over numerous cities, in a highly coordinated offensive, and are now on the outskirts of Damascus, obviously preparing to make a very big move toward taking out Assad,”

Trump Doubles Down

Not stopping there, Trump proceeded to double down.

“Russia, because they are so tied up in Ukraine, and with the loss there of over 600,000 soldiers, seems incapable of stopping this literal march through Syria, a country they have protected for years,” the president-elect added.

Trump concluded by saying that there was “never much of a benefit” in Syria for Russia “other than to make Obama look really stupid.”

“In any event, Syria is a mess, but is not our friend, & THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. LET IT PLAY OUT. DO NOT GET INVOLVED!” Trump argued.

The Syrian conflict has been ongoing since 2011. With Trump heading back to the White House next month, however, it’s unlikely that the U.S. will get involved. That’s because Trump is typically an  isolationist when it comes to foreign conflicts. He has long believed that the U.S. shouldn’t get involved in foreign conflicts unless we have a direct interest in them.

In contrast, Democrats like Obama are all-too-eager to get the U.S. involved in foreign conflicts. This is likely one of the many reasons that the majority of American voters chose Trump over Harris. Indeed, most Americans are sick and tired of seeing the U.S. get pulled into foreign conflicts that have absolutely nothing to do with us.

We’re relieved to finally have a president back in office who won’t get the U.S. involved in foreign conflicts. Instead of focusing on foreign conflicts, Trump will be keeping all of his attention on making America great again!

Key Takeaways:

  • Trump torches Obama over Syria.
  • Trump says the U.S. should not get involved in the Syrian conflict.
  • Trump has no interest in involving U.S. in foreign conflicts that have nothing to do with us.
