President Trump Isn’t Giving Up The Fight – Now He’s Demanding The Supreme Court To Reverse Mail-In Ballot Laws In PA

While Joe Biden and his team prepare for inauguration day on January 20, President Donald Trump’s campaign continues to contest the 2020 election results. And they’re not giving up.

Though Trump’s allies haven’t yet landed a major court victory, they’re raising the stakes. Now they’re headed to the highest court in the land to appeal a series of critical ballot laws.

In fact, Trump’s team claims one battleground state may have violated the Constitution.

His campaign filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court on Sunday, and they want not one case reversed — but several cases. Trump’s lawyers specifically cite questionable mail-in ballot laws.

The President’s team is basically saying the state of Pennsylvania shouldn’t have been allowed to change the mail-in ballot law.

Via Fox News:

President Trump’s campaign team on Sunday filed an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court asking it to reverse several cases by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to change the state’s mail ballot law before and after the 2020 presidential election.

The president’s campaign alleged in a statement that the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court’s changing of the law was a violation of Article II of the U.S. Constitution and Bush v. Gore.

Mail-in and absentee ballot laws and regulations remain a sticking point for the Trump campaign.

For some time now, they’ve been saying that some states shouldn’t have altered the existing laws for mail-in ballots to supposedly compensate for the pandemic.

As one example, conservative politicians and Trump supporters have called out decisions to allow mail-in ballots to be counted several days after Nov 3. (Election Day).

However, these claims haven’t gone far in state court.

That’s probably why the President’s campaign is going to the Supreme Court: they want the high court to overrule decisions made by lower state courts concerning ballot cases.

Unfortunately, as it stands now, Joe Biden remains the official winner.

The official tally sits at 306-232 Electoral votes in favor of Biden, and that’s unlikely to change unless Trump’s team manages to win a few dramatic last-minute appeals.

That being said, they do have until January 6, when a Joint Session of Congress will certify the Electoral College results. Any challenge to those results needs a vote by both the House and Senate.

In the meantime, it’s clear that the President will not go down without a fight.

Key Takeaways:

  • President Trump’s campaign has filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court.
  • They want to overturn several mail-in ballot cases in Pennsylvania. The team claims PA might’ve violated the Constitution.
  • As Trump’s team hasn’t had much success with the state courts, they’re now turning their attention to the highest court.
