Former President Donald Trump faced off once again with his former attorney who is being used to convict Trump in the Manhattan hush-money trial. The more time ex-Trump attorney Michael Cohen spends on the stand, the more is revealed about his credibility as a witness.
This week Cohen was on the defensive as Trump’s attorneys went after him. He was peppered with questions about his actions, character, and the truth of his statements. He apparently got caught during cross-examination in a way that will boost Trump’s defense.
Former Trump associates came forward after the cross examination with revelations that they believe Cohen lied on the stand. Bryan Lanza and Alyssa Farah Griffin said Cohen lied under oath when he testified to the court that he had not wanted to work in the Trump White House.
From The Daily Wire:
“[A]t least to me, Michael Cohen was pretty adamant that he wanted to be White House counsel. He said everything he was doing was to be White House counsel, he’s always injected himself with the space that I was in, which was the TV space, because Trump cared a lot about it. Just so, I always viewed that he’s always positioning, and he was pretty clear that he wanted to be White House counsel,” Lanza said.
Lanza joked about not wanting to be called to testify during his appearance on CNN where he made the statement. He told CNN that he had direct knowledge of Cohen’s aspirations for working in the White House.
Griffin, who personally wants Trump convicted, told CNN that she could not convict the former president based on Cohen’s testimony. She said that while she didn’t personally witness Cohen saying he wanted a White House job, it was pretty much an open secret among staffers.
“But it was widely discussed that he was angling for Attorney General or to be White House counsel,” Griffin said. “That’s, I mean, there’s dozens and dozens of people around Washington who could corroborate that. My jaw hit the floor when I heard him denying that.”
Despite point-black rebuttals of Cohen’s statements before the court, a CNN “legal analyst” toned down the insider accounts by saying Cohen’s testimony did not rise to the level of perjury. The analyst said Cohen’s testimony was too “wishy washy” to take any action against him.
One has to wonder where CNN gets its judicial system analysts who refer to lying under oath with legal terms such as “wishy washy.” That more aptly describes the whole of the liberal media’s assessment of anything factual.
