Trump Jumps into Biden Debt Ceiling Negotiations – Donald Just Claimed GOP Should Not Touch Social Security

What’s Happening:

This week, the U.S. government hit its debt ceiling. Congress will have to come up with a deal to raise the debt limit, if it wants to keep spending cash. Biden seems hell-bent on burning through as much of our future as possible–to keep his lobbyists happy.

Republicans in the House, however, refuse to play ball without cuts. They vowed to hold Biden in check and stop his pattern of reckless spending. Now, Donald Trump is weighing into the debate. As president, he helped rein in our bloated government. And he is warning Republicans not to touch this critical area.

From The Hill:

Former President Trump on Friday urged Republicans in Congress not to cut “a single penny” from Medicare or Social Security, a notable warning as some GOP lawmakers prepare to use the debt ceiling debate as leverage to try to secure spending cuts.

“Under no circumstances should Republicans vote to cut a single penny from Medicare or Social Security to help pay for Joe Biden’s reckless spending spree…”

Donald Trump is so concerned about this crisis, that he posted a video message to Republicans. He posted the video to his social network and warned Republicans not to cut Social Security and Medicare.

These are programs that provide aid to America’s retired population. As president, Trump made good on a promise not to cut these programs–even when some of his staff told him to. Biden has claimed, without evidence, that Republicans will try to make cuts to both of these programs.

However, Democrats have a long history of short-changing SS and Medicare recipients. And those programs are always first on the chopping block, so Biden and the left can funnel more money to Ukraine, Big Pharma, and their buddies in special interest groups.

If Republicans are foolish enough to cut either of these programs, there will be hell to pay. They would be leaving senior citizens in the dust, while there are so many other wasteful programs that need to be trimmed or axed altogether.

Republicans better take heed of Trump’s warning. While in office, he managed to increase Social Security payouts, while cutting back the size and spending of the federal government. House Republicans have the power to negotiate a great deal for Americans.

They better not screw it up.

Key Takeaways:

  • Donald Trump warned Republicans not to make cuts to Social Security or Medicare.
  • This comes as House Republicans vow to make spending cuts over the debt ceiling.
  • Biden has refused to negotiate, demanding Congress raise the ceiling with no concessions.
