It’s been one month since Donald Trump handily defeated Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. Trump defeated Harris in the Electoral College and the popular vote.
This came as a massive shock to Harris and her fellow Democrats. Indeed, going into Election Day, they thought there was no way that she could lose.
In the weeks since then, Democrats everywhere have been trying to figure out where it all went wrong. Now, Trump is speaking out to enlighten them on the one big mistake that Harris made. He believes that her biggest mistake was avoiding the media.
From Daily Wire:
[Trump] said that it was a mistake because it’s important for people to “know what you’re good at.”“I think that when she wouldn’t talk to anybody, it shone a light on her,” Trump said. “In other words, if she would have gone out and just did interviews where they’re comparable to Steve, if there is anybody comparable, would say, could you do an interview here? An interview there? You know, she didn’t do anything.”
“And people said, is there something wrong with her?” he continued. “Why would they? I mean, I’m doing this interview with you. I did interviews with, if I had the time, anybody that would ask, I’d do interviews. I think the Joe Rogan interview, you know, that went on for almost three and a half hours.”
While Trump sat down with Rogan for three hours, Harris never did. Many felt that this played a huge role in Trump’s win, given how large Rogan’s audience is.
Harris Avoided The Media Like The Plague
Harris avoided the media like the plague throughout the bulk of her campaign. Instead, she preferred to stick mostly to appearances that were highly scripted and within her control. This was likely because, on the rare occasions that she did speak to the media, Harris would flub her words and come off as the unlikeable person that she truly is. That’s why an interview with Rogan in which she’d be forced to speak off the cuff for three hours would be the stuff that nightmares are made of for Harris.
Even so, Trump thinks it was still an error to avoid the media because American voters want to “know what you’re good at.” He also said that the Harris campaign “made a big tactical mistake by literally not talking to the press, even if [it was] a really friendly” media publication.
“And then she had some pretty failed interviews, and maybe it was highlighted more than it would,” he stated. “In other words, if she did those same interviews, but she did another 15 interviews, you know, you wouldn’t have really noticed it that much.”
Trump concluded by saying that Harris did so few interviews that when they didn’t go well, it was impossible for her to recover from the backlash.
While we would argue that Harris made too many mistakes to count during her failed campaign, avoiding the media would definitely be a big one. In the end, we’re just glad that she won’t be our next president!
