Swing State Rules in Big Trump Case – This Decision Is a Huge Win for Donald

You wouldn’t be alone if you suspect the many cases against Donald Trump have to do with the 2024 Election. Many Republicans have accused Democrats of throwing lawsuit after lawsuit at the former president, to undermine his campaign.

But aside from the criminal cases and civil lawsuits, various groups have sued in their respective states to prevent Trump from winning.

In one critical swing state, the case was taken to an appeals court. And in another upset for Democrats, the court gave Trump a big victory.

From The Post Millennial:
A Michigan appeals court ruled on Thursday that Trump can remain on the 2024 Republican presidential primary ballot.

In a unanimous decision, the appeals court wrote, “Who to place on the primary ballot is determined by the political parties and the individual candidates,” according to The Messenger.

Yet another lawsuit was filed to block Trump from appearing on a state’s primary ballot. Several groups across the country have tried to remove Trump from ballots, claiming he is guilty of “insurrection.”

None of these cases have resulted in Trump being removed from a state ballot. Most courts have decided that they do not have the authority to decide who should be on a party’s primary ballots.

But it remains to be seen what will happen, should Trump become the Republican nominee. Every lawsuit has, so far, been about keeping him off primary ballots. But it is unlikely there will be zero cases trying to keep him off the general ballot.

How such cases will play out is still unknown. Some courts, particularly in blue states, might decide that Trump is disqualified from running in the general election, despite allowing him to appear on primary ballots.

Some Republicans might suspect Democrats are plotting to do this—to prevent any Republican candidate from appearing on the general election ballots. If such a lawsuit materializes, Trump will no doubt take the case to the Supreme Court.

Key Takeaways:

  • A Michigan appeals court ruled that Trump can remain on the state’s primary ballots.
  • This is yet another lawsuit that accused Trump of “insurrection.”
  • All cases like this one have ended up in Trump’s favor.
