After Trump Tries to Take Down DeSantis – Donald Is Quickly Silenced by Florida Election Reality

What’s Happening:

Right now, plenty of people are giving their opinions on the 2022 Midterm results. Most of them are wrong. But one thing we know for sure is that this election signals a major shift in the GOP’s future.

The big winner of the night was Gov. Ron DeSantis. Not only did he win re-election, but he helped the rest of the GOP’s Florida candidates to win big. His victory is only adding fuel to speculations that he’ll run in 2024.

Trump, perhaps threatened by his former ally, tried to downplay DeSantis’ big wins.

From Daily Wire:

Former President Donald Trump (R) tried to downplay Florida Governor Ron DeSantis‘ (R) dominant election victory on Tuesday night, claiming that his victory in 2020 in Florida was more impressive than DeSantis’ victory last night, even though facts do not support that notion.

“Now that the Election in Florida is over, and everything went quite well, shouldn’t it be said that in 2020, I got 1.1 Million more votes in Florida than Ron D got this year, 5.7 Million to 4.6 Million?” Trump said on social media. “Just asking?”

But Trump’s boast was clearly skewed because turnout for presidential elections is always higher than turnout for midterms. Even a midterm election as big as this year’s, was lower than the 2020 Election.

It looks like Trump got a bigger result than DeSantis, but when you compare the margin of victory, DeSantis leaves Trump in the dust.

From Daily Wire:

In 2020, Trump won the state by 3.3 points or 371,686 votes. DeSantis won the state last night by 19.4 points or 1,507,081 votes

DeSantis won 62 of Florida’s 67 counties, including 59 counties by double digits. DeSantis won Miami-Dade County, the largest county in the state and a Democrat stronghold, by 11 points. He won Palm Beach County, the third largest county in the state and another Democrat stronghold, by three points.

By all measurements, DeSantis’ victory is one for the record books. Trump may have won Florida in 2020, but he lost the election nationwide. DeSantis won re-election and did what Trump failed to do this year.

DeSantis’ success provided a significant down-ballot boost to all other Republicans in Florida. Republicans didn’t just sweep Florida Democrats, they decimated them. There are no state-wide Democrats in Florida, thanks to DeSantis.

Many of Trump’s candidates, especially in critical races, lost miserably. His failure has forced many Republicans to rethink his future with the party.

We’ll see what happens next.

Key Takeaways:

  • Trump criticized DeSantis’ massive victory, saying he won more votes in 2020.
  • Based on the margin of victory, DeSantis’ win was much bigger than Trump’s.
  • Republicans are now rethinking Trump’s 2024 plans, looking to DeSantis instead.
