Just After Tucker Carlson’s Big Debut On Twitter – The Startling Ratings Come Rolling In

When Fox News ditched popular host Tucker Carlson, the conservative world was stunned. They couldn’t believe Fox would voluntarily fire one of their biggest draws.

But not long after he got the axe, everyone wondered where Carlson would end up. As it turns out, he quickly became allayed with the social media giant, Twitter, and his first broadcast just went live.

The result probably isn’t what Fox wanted to see — Tucker is as popular as ever.

Carlson posted a 10-minute monologue at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, which is the same time Fox aired “Special Report with Bret Baier.” The latter is typically good for ratings but against Carlson, it was no contest.

The former Fox News host crushed Baier and his former employer, which is bound to energize his significant fanbase.

Via The Daily Caller:

Tucker Carlson’s first Twitter broadcast reached nine million views in its first two hours, demolishing his old employer’s ratings in the same time slot the previous day.

Carlson’s video reached 13 million views within its first three hours on Twitter and it immediately made him a trending topic.

Baier’s 6 p.m. broadcast had 1.78 million total views and Jesse Watters’ 7 p.m. broadcast reached two million viewers on the night of June 5, according to Mediate.

Of course, it’s difficult to compare a Twitter post to a TV news program; viewers are obtained very differently. It’s not an apples-to-apples comparison.

Even so, it seems pretty clear that Carlson’s draw is as powerful as ever, and Fox has been struggling to find a long-term replacement that can even approach Tucker’s numbers.

During his Twitter monologue, Carlson went scorched-earth on the mainstream media for its coverage of the Ukraine/Russia war, and for prioritizing politics and an agenda over general curiosity:

Nobody knows what’s happening. A small group of people control accesses to all relevant information. And the rest of us don’t know.

We’re allowed to yap all we want about racism, but go ahead and talk about something that really matters and see what happens. If you keep it up, they’ll make you be quiet.

Trust us. That’s how they maintain control.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Carlson raked in millions of viewers in such a short span of time.

He consistently had the highest-rated show at Fox, and was often the highest rated host on cable news. He’s still fighting a breach of contract dispute against Fox, but he’s already off and running on Twitter.

Just after his first broadcast, Twitter owner Elon Musk said: “Would be great to have shows from all parts of the political spectrum on this platform!

But no matter who joins the Twitter political scene, it’s obvious that Tucker Carlson will keep dragging in millions of views — and Fox might regret their decision for a long time to come.

Key Takeaways:

  • Tucker Carlson’s first Twitter monologue garnered 9 million views in its first 2 hours, and 13 million views in 3 hours.
  • This easily topped Fox’s “Special Report with Bret Baier,” which aired at the same time (1.78 million).
  • In his monologue, Carlson accused the media of silencing curious Americans who ask questions.
